Name Brand vs Comparable: Vanilla Extract

What Is Actually Different?

Nielsen-Massey is the more specific product. Its listed ingredients are water, alcohol (35%), sugar, and vanilla bean extractives. The brand describes the Madagascar Bourbon version as having a sweet, creamy, mellow flavor profile and says the beans are sourced from Madagascar.

365 keeps the ingredient list simpler: water, alcohol, and vanilla bean extractives. It is an everyday pure vanilla extract rather than a Madagascar-specific premium presentation.

That distinction matters more than the label design. If you are making a delicate dessert where vanilla is one of the main flavors, a more distinctive extract can be worth reaching for. If vanilla is one ingredient among many in cookies, pancakes, muffins, sauces, or a boxed-cake upgrade, an everyday pure extract is often the practical choice.
